(BLUEWATER, ON) - A call to police from a concerned citizen has led to a female driver from Windsor being charged with Over 80.
Shortly before 6:30 p.m. on May 16, 2018 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a concerned citizen about a possible impaired driver travelling northbound on Bluewater Veteran's Highway. At approximately 6:53 p.m. a Huron OPP officer stopped the suspect vehicle, a blue sports utility vehicle and spoke with the driver.
While speaking with the female driver the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol. As a result, the driver was directed to provide a sample of her breath into a roadside screening device. The driver complied with the request and provided a sample that resulted in a Fail. She was placed under arrest for Driving a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests.
She subsequently provided two samples of her breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of her samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 23-year-old Aliyah LYNK from Windsor has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol.
She was later released from custody with an upcoming court appearance scheduled for June 18, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
