(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) - On Saturday May 26, 2018 at 4:10 p.m. members of the Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 11 North, just south of Gravenhurst. Witnesses described that when the vehicles came to rest, one driver fled the scene on foot.
Officers arrived and determined that the suspect vehicle had been reported as stolen on December 16, 2017 from York Region. The OPP Canine Unit along with the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) assisted by conducting a thorough search of the area and located the suspect who had sustained an injury to his ankle in his attempts to flee from police.
Officers carried the suspect out of the woods and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police have charged 43 year-old Aaron THOMPSON of Toronto with the following offenses:

Unlawfully at Large CC145(1)(b)
Driving While Disqualified CC259(4)
Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime CC354(1)(a)
Fail to Comply with Probation CC733.1(1)
The accused was held in custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on June 8, 2018 for a bail hearing.
