(ST. MARYS, PERTH COUNTY, ON) - On May 27, 2018, at approximately 12:30 p.m., members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Perth County Paramedics responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in St. Marys.
The investigation thus far, has revealed that two (2) males were involved in an altercation inside a dwelling. While responding to the home, officers learned that the victim had attended hospital on their own.
The victim, a 60-year-old male, received treatment for serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old male from St. Marys was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, and Uttering Threats, pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada (CC).
The victim and accused are known to each other. There is no concern for public safety.
The Perth County OPP Crime Unit and the West Region (WR) OPP Forensic Identification Service (FIS) continue to investigate this event.
The accused was held in custody and scheduled to appear in court on May 28, 2018.
