(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) - Yesterday, June 13, 2018 at approximately 5:40 pm officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Kawartha Lakes Road 121 north of Fenelon Falls.
A short time later, the subject vehicle of the traffic complaint was reported to be involved in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Northline Road and Kawartha Lakes Road 121. The driver left the scene of the collision, but was followed by the other involved vehicle until police located the involved vehicles on Northline Road at approximately 6:15 pm. Following an investigation the driver, Terry WELSH, 52 years of age of Toronto was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Driving a Motor Vehicle While Ability Impaired contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
Driving a Motor Vehicle With More Than 80 mg of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) CCC
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 249(1)(a) CCC
Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident contrary to section 252 CCC
Driving While Disqualified contrary to section 259(4) CCC
Driving While Suspended contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay.
