(NAPANEE, ON) - In September 2017, the Napanee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) commenced an investigation into a number of suspicious fires that had occurred within the Town of Greater Napanee. Evidence collected during the ongoing investigation linked other fires that had been set in the Prince Edward County area.
Two people were arrested and charged by Napanee OPP on January 10, 2018 in relation to these fires. As the investigation continues to evolve, additional charges have since been laid on the same two individuals.
On June 14, 2018, Robert PICKSTOCK, 33-years-old, of Greater Napanee was further charged with:
Arson as per section 434 of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC) (16 counts);
Break and Enter as per s. 348(1)(a) of the CC (two counts);
Public Mischief as per s. 140(1)(a) of the CC; and with
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 as per s. 355(b) of the CC.
He has been held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on June 15, 2018
On June 15, 2018, Joseph PICKSTOCK, 40-years-old, of Greater Napanee was further charged with:
Arson as per section 434 of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC) (16 counts);
Break and Enter as per s. 348(1)(a) of the CC (two counts);
Mischief as per s. 140(1)(a) of the CC;
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 as per s. 355(b) of the CC (two counts); and with
Obstruct Justice as per s 139(1) of the CC.
He has been held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on June 16, 2018
