(BANCROFT, ON) - During the week of June 11, 2018 through to June 17, 2018, officers with the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to one hundred and thirty seven (137) calls for service.
These investigations included 911- Non-emergency call, two (2) alarms, ambulance assist, three (3) animal complaints, assault, attempt or threat of suicide, four (4) breach of probation, community services, dangerous conditions, disturb the peace, six (6) domestic disputes, drug offence, three (3) family disputes, two (2) frauds, two (2) harassments, landlord tenant problem, four (4) liquor license act, marine, four (4) mental health acts, missing person, three (3) neighbour disputes, police assistance, police information, six (6) prevent breach of peace, property checks, sexual assault, shoplift, two (2) suspicious persons, two (2) thefts, twelve (12) traffic complaints, traffic control, traffic enforcement, eight (8) traffic hazards, five (5) trespass to property, unwanted person, two (2) warrants, ten (10) wires down - possible fire and other related calls for service.
Five (5) criminal charges were laid during the same period of time regarding a shoplifting, assault and a domestic bail violation investigation.
Officers also conducted multiple R.I.D.E. programs throughout the detachment area to check on driver's sobriety.
Officers responded to twelve (12) motor vehicle collisions (MVC) where five (5) were involved in striking a moose and four (4) deer. Two MVC's occurred in parking lots and another MVC involved a 12 year old being injured with non-life threatening injuries on an all-terrain vehicle.
During that same period, officers laid thirty one (31) Provincial Offence Notices.
Twenty one (21) were related to speeding, fail to surrender valid insurance card, fail to wear seatbelt, three (3) liquor other than licensed premise, drive motor vehicle - No Licence, interfere with traffic, turn not in safety, and two (2) being intoxicated in a public place.
