(CITY OF KINGSTON, ON) - On June 17, 2018 at approximately 8:50 a.m. The Frontenac detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 401 eastbound about 3km west of Joyceville Road in the City of Kingston.
A white vehicle possibly a Kia travelling eastbound on Highway 401 came to a sudden stop in an attempt to avoid hitting a family of ducks that were crossing the highway.
The vehicle travelling behind the Kia a gold mini-van took an evasive turn to avoid colliding with the Kia and left the road way into the south side ditch hitting a tree. The male driver of the min-van and his 10-year old son passenger were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The white vehicle then left the scene prior to police arrival.
The OPP would like to remind motorists that anytime drivers are attempting to avoid hitting animals or debris on the roadway to consider the safety of other vehicles.
