(MCDOUGALL TOWNSHIP, ON) - On July 2, 2018 at shortly after 11 p.m., a member of the West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision (MVC) on McDougall Road in McDougall Township, Ontario.
Investigation determined that a vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and entered the ditch on McDougall Road. The vehicle rolled over and came to rest against some trees. Both occupants were uninjured. The officer spoke to the driver and determined that he had consumed alcohol.
As a result of the investigation Jonathon LUKS, a 28 year old male from Farrer, Australia was arrested and charged with Drive motor vehicle - over 80 mgs. of blood alcohol, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
The driver was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound, Ontario on July 5, 2018.
The OPP reminds motorists that there is no safe amount of drug or alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
