(RENFREW, ON) - The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a drowning on Friday July 6 at Owl Rafting in the Township of Whitewater Region.
OPP officers, Renfrew County Paramedics, and firefighters from Whitewater Region responded to the report of a swimmer who had gone under water at Owl Rafting on Friday evening at 6:28 pm. The swimmer was located and pulled to shore where resuscitation efforts were started. The male was transported to hospital by paramedics but was pronounced dead a short time later. The deceased has been identified as Charles (Chuck) OZULUMBA aged 22 of Markham. The Office for the Chief Coroner of Ontario is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Renfrew OPP. A post mortem examination has been scheduled. Foul play is not suspected.
