(MIDLAND, ON) -Despite the efforts of Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducting 6 R.I.D.E. spot checks checking the sobriety of over 300 drivers, officers were kept busy with removing following drinking drivers over the weekend.
On July 30, 2018 at 2:24 am an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle on Yonge Street in the Town of Midland for a driving infraction. Upon speaking with the male driver the officer entered into a drinking and driving investigation. This investigation resulted in Raymond THOMAS 75 years of Tiny Township being charged with the following offences.
Driving While Ability Impaired- motor vehicle (Alcohol) contrary to section 253 (1) (a) and further Care or Control Over 80 mgs contrary to section 253 (1) (b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
His vehicle has been impounded for 7 days and his drivers licence has been suspended for 90 days under the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) He was released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on August 16, 2018.
At 1:02 am July 29, 2018 officers attended along with County of Simcoe Paramedic Services and Tiny Township Fire Services to a single vehicle crash int a deep ditch on Lafontaine Road West in Tiny Township. The attending officers located the male driver and passenger nearby and after speaking with the male driver, officers entered into a drinking and driving investigation resulting in Ryan BURNETT 38 years of Tiny Township being charged with the following offences.

On July 28, 2018 at 2:33 am the OPP communication Center received a call from a motorist reporting a possible impaired driver. A nearby officer on patrol located and stopped the suspect vehicle on Hoyt Avenue in Victoria Harbour, Tay Township. The officer entered into a drinking and driving investigation once the male driver was spoken to and as a result of the investigation Aleksei KAGAN 42 years of Caledon has been charged with the following offences.
Care or Control While Impaired (Alcohol) contrary to section 253(1)(a) and further with Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
His vehicle has been impounded for 7 days and his drivers licence has been suspended for 90 days under the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) He was released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on August 2, 2018.
