(LEEDS, ON.) - Officers of the Leeds Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing an investigation after receiving numerous 911 calls about a driving incident on Highway 401.
On July 10, 2018 at about 8:40 PM O.P.P officers received information about a vehicle driving erratically prior to it colliding in the median on Highway 401 eastbound in Front of Yonge Township. Reports were that the driver got out of his car and began accosting assisting bystanders. Further reports indicated the driver tried to enter their vehicles before he began running down the highway.
A Leeds OPP officer arrived and was injured while attempting to apprehend the driver. Assisted by bystanders, the driver was restrained and taken to hospital in Brockville for assessment. The officer was treated and released at hospital in Brockville for minor injuries.
Charged with Assault Police, Resisting Arrest, Dangerous Driving, and Impaired Driving by Drug is 39 year old Paul OLDHAM of Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice Provincial Division - Brockville on August 3, 2018.
