(SOUTH-WEST OXFORD TOWNSHIP, ON) - On July 31, 2018 at approximately 6:00 a.m. a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting RADAR enforcement on near Tillsonburg, on Pressey Road near Lowrie Line, when a vehicle was observed exceeding the posted speed limit of 80 km/hr. The RADAR registered a speed in excessive of 160 km/hr.
As a result, the male driver, Anthony MCCONNELL, 22-years-old from St. Thomas, Ontario has been charged with race a motor vehicle - excessive speed, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
The driver's licence has been suspended and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days, as per statute.
Oxford OPP would like to remind drivers that stunt driving or racing is a serious and reckless forms of aggressive driving, and it puts everyone on the road at serious risk of injury or death.
