Just prior to 2:30 am, Police observed a motor vehicle being operated in the downtown core without the headlights on. Police stopped the vehicle and investigated the 36 year old male driver. Police observed the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath and demanded he provide a sample of his breath into a road side screening device. The male was placed under arrest after failing the roadside test and transported to Owen Sound Police Service.
As a result of the subsequent breath test results conducted at the station, the male driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliltres of blood.
The Markdale area man has had his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle he was driving impounded for 7 days. The driver will appear in court later this month.
