(TOWNSHIP OF Mapleton, ON) - On August 3, 2018 at approximately 2:00 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious collision involving two motor vehicles on Wellington Road 12, near Drayton. Initial reports indicated that a pickup truck and farm tractor had collided head on.
OPP, Mapleton Fire/Rescue and Guelph Wellington Paramedics Service attended the scene. The driver of the pickup, a 57-year-old non-local man, was airlifted to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. His passenger, a 52-year-old woman was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor was uninjured. The occupants of a third vehicle that entered the ditch avoiding the collision were uninjured.
The cause of the collision is currently being investigated by OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) and the roadway will remain closed until further notice.
