(CENTRAL ELGIN, ON) - The Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a vehicle being driven off the roadway at the intersection of Highway Three and Belmont Road on August 4, 2018 around 3:00 p.m..
The lone female driver was driving southbound on Belmont road when her 2008 dark coloured car went through the intersection and into a field.
As a result of the investigation, 34-year-old Robin DELEARY of Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation stands charged with:
- Driving while ability is impaired contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
- Possession of a schedule I substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
The accused was taken to hospital with minor injuries by St. Thomas Elgin Paramedics. Central Elgin Fire Services also attended the scene of the collision.
The accused has since been released and will need to appear in St. Thomas Criminal Court on September 17, 2018.
