(PERTH COUNTY, ON) - The Civic Holiday weekend has come and gone, and the statistics for Perth County are in.
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Perth County detachment responded to 160 calls for service during August 3-August 6, 2018.
The OPP annual Move Over traffic campaign was also conducted during this time and resulted in 143 charges. The focus of the campaign was geared toward the "Move Over" legislation for emergency vehicles; however, no drivers were charged with this offence in Perth County during that time.
Charges ranged from impaired drivers to insurance violations.
"Through pro-active patrols and co-ordinated initiatives, our members put forth outstanding efforts during this campaign. Road safety remains a priority for the OPP and would not be possible without the invaluable assistance that we receive from the public." Sergeant Jason McTaggart, Traffic Management Co-ordinator, Perth County OPP.
