(SEGUIN TOWNSHIP, ON) - On August 14, 2018 shortly after midnight, a member of the West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a boat adrift and a male slouched over and not moving on Georgian Bay, Ontario. Police located the boat and the officer spoke to the driver determining that he had consumed alcohol.
As a result of the investigation Justin MUNROE, a 27-year old male from Wasauksing First Nation, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Operate vessel with over 80 mgs. of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code, and
Care or control while ability impaired - alcohol, contrary to section 253(1)(a) the CC.
The driver was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound, Ontario on August 30, 2018.
The OPP reminds motorists that there is no safe amount of drug or alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
