(ST. MARYS, ON) - Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Perth County detachment attended two residential addresses in the Town of St. Marys on August 16, 2018 following reports of entries to vehicles and a shed.
The incidents are believed to have occurred during the overnight hours at properties on Wellington Street. An unlocked shed was entered in a backyard, as well as an unlocked motor vehicle. No theft occurred. A second unlocked vehicle was also entered. No theft occurred
While in an area, thieves will try to access as many properties as possible. Unlocked and insecure property presents one opportunity after another. Speak with your neighbours; remind each other to lock all vehicles, gates, sheds, windows. Store equipment in a locked container or building. Turn exterior lights on during the overnight hours.
Keep an eye on your neighbours; be observant of the properties of those away on holidays as well those owned by older members of your community. Working together, we can reduce property crime.
Report suspicious vehicles, persons or activities immediately to police. Call 1-888-310-1122.
