(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) - Yesterday (August 15, 2018), an officer from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle on Highway 7 in Omemee at approximately 6:30 pm for a speed violation in the 50 km/h zone.
Following an investigation, the driver, 38 year old Henry PODNIEWICZ of Lindsay was arrested and charged with the following offences:
Driving With More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol in 100 mls of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Possession of a Schedule II Substance - Cannabis Marihuana (under 30 grams) contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Speeding contrary to section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
Drive Motor Vehicle no validation on plate contrary to section 7(1)(c) HTA
Novice Driver - B.A.C. (blood alcohol content) Above Zero contrary to section 44.1(3) HTA
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on September 13, 2018.
