(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) - The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with 215 incidents this past week, here are some examples:



August 13

A 21 year old female from Quebec was charged with stunt driving when the vehicle she was driving was stopped by an officer after it was measured travelling 53 km/h over the speed limit on Highway 401 in the Municipality of Port Hope, Ontario. Her licence was seized and suspended, and her vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. She is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on October 3, 2018.
Police were called to a seasonal camp and trailer park located east of Cobourg, Ontario in Hamilton Township for reports of a male walking around the camp ground carrying what was described as a large knife. The male was located by officers walking down the road a short distance from the camp ground. Konrad Slomkowski age 32 from Toronto, Ontario was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and fail to comply with recognizance. He was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.


August 14

A blue Ford pickup truck that was reported stolen out of the Peterborough area on August 9, 2018 was located in the parking lot of King Edward Park in Brighton, Ontario. The vehicle was towed and the owner was to be notified by Peterborough OPP.*
A commercial motor vehicle that was travelling eastbound on Highway 401 in the Municipality of Port Hope was stopped after an officer measured it to be travelling 122 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone. As a result of the investigation the 38 year old male driver from Guelph, Ontario was charged with the following Highway Traffic Act offences:
- Speeding

-Drive commercial motor vehicle not equipped with working speed-limiting device

-Driving while under suspension

-Fail to carry daily logs or operator's records for previous 14 days

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on October 3, 2018.

Police were called to an address in the town of Colborne, Ontario for a report of a domestic dispute. As a result of the investigation a 36 year old female from Cramahe Township was arrested and charged with assault and assault with a weapon. She was released with a court date in October, 2018.
A white Toyota SUV was reported in the area of Kinsley Avenue and Sanford Street in the Municipality of Brighton. The male driver who claimed to be from Dubai told residents that he lost his wallet which contained his identification and all his money. He wanted to exchange the handful of jewellery he had for cash. No exchange was made. Patrols were conducted by officers but the vehicle was not located.


August 15

Officers responded to a reported break and enter that occurred at a local welding and fabrication shop in Port Hope, Ontario. Forced entry was made into the building. Reported stolen was several feet of welding wire. Police continue to investigate.*
Police attended an address in the Municipality of Brighton for a report of a domestic dispute. Officers arrested and charged a 24 year old female from Whitby, Ontario with two counts of assault with intent to resist arrest and fail to comply with a recognizance. She was held overnight until sober then released with a date in September to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.


August 16

A domestic dispute in progress was reported to police just before 2 p.m. north of Campbellford, Ontario. A 32 year old male from the Municipality of Trent Hills was arrested and charged with assault. He was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in September 2018.
Police assisted with a family dispute in Hamilton Township. A physical altercation ensued between a father and son. Both male parties were spoken to and separated for the night. Advice was provided and support numbers provided to assist in seeking counselling.
Northumberland OPP officers also investigated 13 accidental 911 calls/alarms, 9 motor vehicle collisions; 56 traffic related complaints and conducted 11 RIDE programs during this time period.
