During the week of August 13, 2018, to August 19, 2018 there were 149 calls for service, including the Whitney Detachment.
There were fifteen motor vehicle collisions, three were animal related.
There were four domestic dispute calls for service, and one domestic dispute resulting in criminal code charges.
Domestic Assault/ Breach of Probation Charges
On Friday August 17, 2018 at approximately 3:56 pm, members of the Killaloe OPP detachment responded to a domestic disturbance at residence in Bonnechere Valley Twp. As a result of police investigation, a 52 yr. old male from Bonnechere Valley Twp. was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault, Mischief, and Breach of Probation x 2, contrary the Criminal Code. The accused was held pending a bail court hearing, Ontario Court of Justice. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
Break and Enter, Theft of ATV's, Results in Motor Vehicle Collision
On Thursday August 16, 2018 members of the Killaloe OPP detachment initiated an investigation into a break and enter and theft of two Yamaha all-terrain vehicles, (ATV) from a hunt camp on Lower Rosenthal Road, Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan Twp. Police located one of the stolen vehicles and arrested a one male, while the second male left the area on the stolen ATV. Police located the second male a short time later. He had been involved in a serious collision after striking a barbed wire fence. The male involved in the single vehicle collision was transported to hospital by ambulance with major injuries. He was later transported to hospital by ORNG with life threatening injuries. As a result of police investigation, 48 yr. old Stephen ELLIS, of Sudbury was arrested and charged with Drive While Disqualified and Theft Over $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused was held pending a bail court hearing, Ontario Court of Justice, Pembroke. OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) and the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) assisted with the investigation into the incident. Charges are pending against the second male. PC Ryan Szczygiel is leading this investigation.
Collisions
On Friday August 17, 2018 at approximately 2:12 pm, Killaloe OPP responded to a fail to remain single motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Dunn Street, and Opeongo Line, Madawaska Valley Twp. A dark grey pickup truck, with a tonneau cover and chrome wheels struck a pedestrian and her dog. The older male driver then stopped briefly, and left the area. Police are asking the public for assistance in identifying the pickup truck and male driver responsible for the collision. Anyone with information is asked to call the Killaloe OPP or Crime Stoppers. PC Lindsay Moore is leading this investigation.
On Monday August 13, 2018 at approximately 9:39 pm, Killaloe OPP Constable Tanya Kutschke responded to a single vehicle collision on Crimson Maple Road, Bonnechere Valley Twp. The driver of a passenger car lost control and entered the ditch. The 19 yr. old male driver from Pembroke was transported to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. Charges are pending. The vehicle was towed.
On Tuesday August 14, 2018 at approximately 11:33 am, Killaloe OPP Constable Glenn Yaraskavitch and Constable Ian Morin responded to a two vehicle collision on Water Street, Bonnechere Valley Twp. involving a truck and a sport utility vehicle (SUV). The 69 yr. old driver of the sport utility vehicle from Quebec was charged with Start from Stopped Position Not in Safety contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The sport utility vehicle was towed. There were no reported injuries.
On Tuesday August 14, 2018 at approximately 11:38 am, Killaloe OPP Constable Ian Morin responded to a single vehicle roll over collision involving a water truck on Chapeski Mill Drive, Madawaska Valley Twp. The 56 yr. old male driver from North Algona Wilberforce Twp. received minor injuries and was treated by ambulance. The vehicle was towed. No charged laid.
Mischief
On Tuesday August 14, 2018 at approximately 6:32 pm, Killaloe OPP responded to a mischief to property call on John Street, Bonnechere Valley Twp. The Eganville Leader had reported spray painting on the back of the building. No suspects. This incident remains under investigation.
Theft
On Monday August 13, 2018 at approximately 12:48 pm, Killaloe OPP responded to a theft call on Mountain View Road, Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Twp. A chainsaw was reported stolen some time over the weekend. This incident remains under investigation.
Theft
On Thursday August 16, 2018 at approximately 9:36 am, Killaloe OPP responded to a theft call on Chapel Road, North Algona Wilberforce Twp. A yardwork wheelbarrow, tackle box, lawn chair, hammock and various yard work items were reported stolen. This incident remains under investigation.
