(PARRY SOUND, ON) - On August 19, 2018 shortly after 1:00 a.m., a member of the West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver at a drive thru on Bowes Street in Parry Sound, Ontario. Police located the vehicle and the officer spoke to the driver determining that he had consumed alcohol.
As a result of the investigation Dexter CAESAR, a 32-year old male from North Bay, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Care or control while impaired - alcohol, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code,
Possession of a schedule II substance - cannabis marihuana - under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA), and
Possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine, contrary to section 4(1) of the (CDSA.
The driver was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound, Ontario on October 4, 2018.
The OPP reminds motorists that there is no safe amount of drug or alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
