(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) - A 34-year-old driver from Stoney Creek will be making a return trip to Huron County later this fall to answer to an Impaired Driving charge following a traffic stop that took place over the weekend.
Yesterday afternoon around 12:26 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received information from South Bruce OPP about a driver that was possibly driving while impaired into Huron County. Officers began patrolling for the suspect vehicle and within a few minutes officers had the suspect vehicle stopped on Bluewater Veteran's Highway just south of Kintail.
Upon speaking with the male driver the investigating officer observed the driver to be displaying signs of impairment. The driver failed the standard field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for impaired driving. He was subsequently transported to the Listowel OPP detachment whereupon he ultimately failed the Drug Recognition Evaluator's (DRE) tests and was deemed impaired by a drug.
Christopher BELLIS, 34 years of age, from Stoney Creek has been charged with Impaired Operation by a Drug. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 15, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich. His licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
