(HURON EAST, ON) - Members from the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment remain on scene of a two-vehicle fatal crash that took place east of Clinton this afternoon (21Aug).
At approximately 2:17 p.m. Huron OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and Central Huron Fire Department members were dispatched to the crash scene located on Huron Road (Highway 8) east of Front Road.
Investigators have since determined a small passenger car was travelling westbound on Huron Road (Highway 8) when for unknown reasons the car crossed over the centre line and collided with an eastbound minivan.
The male driver and lone occupant of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place tomorrow in London.
Both occupants of the mini-van were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated from the heavily damaged vehicle. The female driver has been transported to hospital in London with life-threatening injuries. A male passenger remains in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Members from the OPP West Region Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) Team remain on scene investigating the collision.
Huron Road (Highway 8) will remain closed between Front Road and Sanctuary Line until approximately 8:00 p.m.. Please take an alternate route to avoid a delay.
Names will be released pending next-of-kin notification.
