(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) - On Sunday August 19, 2018 at approximately 8:39 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a possible impaired driver operating a red pick-up truck in the area of Graham Street in Mapleton Township.
Officers located the driver at a gas station located on St. David Street North in Fergus. While speaking with the male driver, police formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device (ASD) test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.
24-year-old Blair NORRIS of Centre Wellington Township has been charged with Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.
He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on September 12, 2018 to answer to the charge.
