(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) - On Friday August 24, 2018 at approximately 2:52 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Highway 6 at College Avenue in the City of Guelph.
Officers spoke with the driver of a black sedan that entered into the checkpoint and determined that he had consumed alcohol.
A Roadside Screening Device (ASD) test was conducted which registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.
48-year-old James EDWARDS has been charged with Operate Motor Vehicle with 80 mgs of Alcohol in 100 mls of Blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on September 18, 2018 to answer to his charge.
