(PERTH SOUTH, ON) - Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Perth County detachment, Perth County Paramedic Services, and Perth East Fire Department responded to a two motor vehicle collision in the Township of Perth South shortly before 6:00 p.m. on August 28, 2018.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Perth Line 26 and Perth Road 122, involving a minivan and a sport utility vehicle (SUV). Two vehicle occupants were pronounced deceased at the scene. Three more occupants were transported to hospital in life-threatening condition. A sixth occupant was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and remains in stable condition at this time. A seventh occupant was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
The intersection has been closed for several hours and OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) were called to assist at the scene. Hydro crews attended to repair a hydro pole which was damaged in the collision.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation at this time, and occupant details are being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
