(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) - On Tuesday August 28, 2018 at approximately 2:06 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers investigated the male driver of a two door red coupe on Wellington Road 124 near Hillside Drive in Guelph-Eramosa Township for a Highway Traffic Act infraction. While speaking with the male police formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device (ASD) test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and transported to a local police station for further testing.
18-year-old Marc CHARBONNEAU of Guelph has been charged with Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Adult Novice Driver - B.A.C. Above Zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.
He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on September 25, 2018 to answer to the charge.
