(PARRY SOUND, ON) - On August 28, 2018 shortly after 8:30 a.m., a member of the West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle driving erratically and weaving through traffic on Bowes Street in Parry Sound, Ontario. Police located the vehicle and the officer spoke to the driver determining that he had consumed alcohol.
As a result of the investigation Erick BEAUCAGE, a 40-year old male from Wasauksing First Nation, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Drive motor vehicle - over 80 mgs. of blood alcohol, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code,
Drive motor vehicle while ability impaired - alcohol, contrary to section 253(1)(a) the CC,
Possession of a schedule II substance - cannabis marihuana - under 30 grams, as per section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance act (CDSA).
The driver was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound, Ontario on September 20, 2018.
The OPP reminds motorists that there is no safe amount of drug or alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
