(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - On Saturday September 1, 2018 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) Check on Wellington Road 7, south of Elora. At approximately 11:30 p.m. the driver of a grey passenger vehicle entered the R.I.D.E. check.
While speaking with the male driver, officers formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was without insurance and being operated with a licence plate that was not authorized for the car. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.
41-year-Christopher John LAKE of Arthur has been charged with Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. He was also charged Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance and with Use Plates Unauthorized. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on September 25, 2018.
