(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) - The Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have now investigated two separate break and enters to homes that occurred when family members are out attending funerals in their local areas.
Police would like to remind the public that criminals use readily available information to target vulnerable people. This includes people attending funerals.
On August 3, 2018 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. suspect(s) enter a residence on Crinan Line in West Elgin, Ontario. The residence was west of Graham Road.
Jewellery, money, and identification documents were stolen from the residence.
On August 30, 2018 between the hours of 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. suspects(s) enter a residence on Hacienda Road in Malahide Township, Ontario. The residence was north of Chalet Line.
Electronics, money, clothing, and tools were stolen from the residence.
In both break and enters Elgin County OPP Scenes of Crime Officers (SOCO) attended the residents. Evidentiary information was gained from both break and enter scenes.
Elgin County OPP are asking that the public report any suspicious people or vehicles to police immediately by calling 1-888-310-1122.
