(TINY TOWNSHIP, ON)- Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched by the Orillia Provincial Communications Center at 4:55 pm Sept 15,2018 to a report of 2 persons possibly drowning off beach area 4 in Awenda Provincial Park, Tiny Township. Officers along with County of Simcoe Paramedics and Tiny Township Fire Service proceeded to the call and upon arrival were transported to the scene by Awenda Park Wardens.
Emergency Services personnel upon arrival at beach area 4 which was a significant distance from the park service road, located a 33 year old male and female on shore who were physically exhausted after getting into water over their head and were pulled to shore by other near by quick acting swimmers as they appeared unconscious. The rescued pair who regained consciousness on the beach were transported by a group effort of Emergency Services Staff to an awaiting ambulance and onward to Georgian Bay General Hospital where they were later released after being cleared by medical staff.
