(FORT FRANCES, ON) - On September 30, 2018, at approximately 6:08PM, members of the Rainy River Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a report of an impaired driver on Scott Street that had almost caused a collision, and then pulled into the Safeway Parking lot in Fort Frances. Officers attended the scene, and located the suspect vehicle. Upon speaking to the male driver, the member suspected that the driver was under the influence of a controlled substance. Further investigation and testing revealed that the driver had alcohol in his body. He was transported to the Fort Frances detachment, where further testing was conducted.
As a result of the investigation, Chase FLINDERS, 19 years of age, of Couchiching First Nation Territory, has been charged with the following:
Care or Control while Impaired contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with unsealed container of Liquor contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act of Ontario.
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of October 29, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances.
