(NORTH PERTH, ON) - A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check conducted on October 6, 2018 resulted in an arrest and charges. Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Perth County detachment were in the Municipality of North Perth conducting the campaign shortly before 1:00 a.m. when a motor vehicle entered the area.
Through investigation, it was determined that the driver was currently suspended and wanted by another police service in Ontario. Further investigation resulted in the location of drugs and alcohol inside of the motor vehicle.
As a result, forty-seven-year old Mark DENNIS of St. Thomas was arrested and charged with:
Trafficking in Schedule I substance-cocaine,
Trafficking in Schedule II substance-cannabis marihuana, and
Drive while under suspension
He was later released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
A female passenger was charged with open alcohol under the Liquor Licence Act and released.
