(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) - On October 14, 2018, at approximately 11:00 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of an erratic driver on Nairn Road, Middlesex Centre.
The witness reported that the suspect vehicle had collided with a fixed object and had failed to remain at the scene of the collision.
The officer located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The officer determined that the 34-year-old, male driver of the vehicle was operating the motor vehicle while impaired by drugs and under suspension. The driver was arrested and transported to a police station for further testing.
As a result of the police investigation, Thomas Gordon DAWSON, of Bosanquet Township, Ontario, has been charged with Driving while under suspension, fail to remain and fail to report accident pursuant to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
The accused also faces charges of Driving While Ability Impaired - motor vehicle (Drug) pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada (CC) and Possession of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis Marihuana - under 30grams, pursuant to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
The accused is scheduled to appear in a London court room on November 9, 2018 to answer to the charges.
