(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) - A 48-year-old Wingham resident has been charged with Impaired Driving and Driving a Motor Vehicle With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol following a traffic stop that took place in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh yesterday afternoon(31Oct).
At approximately 12:41 p.m., Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received information about a possible impaired driver. Upon receiving a description of the suspect vehicle and a direction of travel an OPP officer located the suspect vehicle shortly thereafter travelling eastbound on Amberley Road.
Upon stopping the vehicle and speaking with the male driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been consuming alcohol and was displaying several signs of impairment. As a result the driver was placed under arrest for impaired driving and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
Robert KIRK, 48 years of age, from Wingham has been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for December 17, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich. His vehicle has been impounded for seven days and his licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days.
