(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) - On Saturday November 17, 2018 at approximately 2:20 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two vehicle collision on Wellington Road 124 at Wellington Road 32.
Investigation revealed that a westbound sport utility vehicle (SUV) rear-ended a 4-door sedan that was stopped at a red light at that intersection.
While speaking with the male driver of the SUV, officers determined that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and he was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.
22-year-old Ryan PENELTON of Huron East has been charged with Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood and Impaired Driving contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on December 14, 2018 to answer to the charges.
A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.
