(SOUTH HURON, ON) - An early morning crash east of Centralia has claimed the life of a 26-year-old male from St. Paul's.
At approximately 7:20 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services and South Huron Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the crash scene located on Whalen Line east of London Road (Highway 4) after a passerby discovered a completely destroyed vehicle in a farmer's field.
The preliminary investigation has determined the driver was travelling westbound on Whalen Line in a full size sedan when the vehicle left the roadway at a high rate of speed. The vehicle collided with two trees and subsequently rolled multiple times.
The lone occupant was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 26-year-old Zachary SMITH from St. Paul's, ON.
Investigators from the OPP West Region Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) Team attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted on December 2, 2018.
