(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) - On Tuesday November 5, 2018, at approximately 9:00 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed some poor driving behaviour on Hawkins Road, Guelph. The officer observed a male in a black sedan 'squealing' tires and loosing traction from the road in a stunting fashion. The officer stopped the vehicle and while speaking with the male driver, formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.
27-year-old Matthew James SIMAN of Guelph has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle-Stunt and Driving with Over 80mg of alcohol per 100mL of blood. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on December 7, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
