(THAMES CENTRE, ON) - On December 5, 2018, at approximately 01:00 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a fatal motor vehicle collision investigation at the intersection of Dundas Street and Hunt Road in the Municipality of Thames Centre.
While investigating the fatal collision, a motorist drove around the clearly marked road closure barriers and entered the collision scene. When police interacted with the male driver, police determined that the 28-year-old male driver had consumed alcohol and subsequently, was arrested.
As a result of the police investigation, Gary WARD, of Milton, Ontario was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired and Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood, pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada (CC).

Collision scenes are complex investigations that demand an officers' full attention. A catastrophic event was avoided due to the quick action taken by the officers on scene." - says PC Max Gomez, Middlesex County OPP.
The accused is scheduled to appear in a London court room on January 10, 2019.
