(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) - On Sunday October 28, 2018 at approximately 10:00 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single-vehicle collision on London Road North, Mount Forest. It was reported that a grey sedan had entered the ditch and an occupant had suffered minor injuries.
Police attended and while speaking with the driver of the vehicle formed the opinion that she was under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. Due to medical concerns she was taken to a local hospital and unable to provide a sample of breath for analysis. A sample of blood was provided and sent to the Centre of Forensic Science (C.F.S.) for analysis.
As a result of the December 16, 2018 findings from C.F.S., 19-year-old Bailey Christine EVANS of Guelph has been charged with having the Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle while her Blood Alcohol Concentration was Over 80 mgs of Alcohol in 100mL of Blood. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) was initiated as per statute. She is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on January 22, 2019.
If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.
