(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) - On Thursday January 17, 2019 just before noon, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were on general patrol in the area of Louise Street in Harriston when they observed an unlicensed driver that was known to them, operating a motor vehicle on a roadway. The driver pulled into a private driveway and fled the vehicle on foot and ran behind the residence.
The officer followed the male while telling him to stop and that he was under arrest. A brief foot pursuit ensued and the male was taken into custody. While searching the male and vehicle subsequent to arrest officers located a quantity of methamphetamine, hydromorphone, psilocybin, drug paraphernalia, open alcohol and brass knuckles.
49-year-old Joseph YORKE of Harriston was held for a Bail Hearing and faces the following charges:
Operate Motor Vehicle While Prohibited contrary to Criminal Code
Possession of an Unauthorized Weapon contrary to Criminal Code
Resist Arrest contrary to Criminal Code
Possession of Psilocybin contrary to Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine contrary to Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Possession of Hydromorphone contrary to Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Driving While Under Suspension x3 contrary to Highway Traffic Act
Drive Motor Vehicle - No Valid Permit contrary to Highway Traffic Act
Drive Motor Vehicle With Alcohol Readily Available contrary to Liquor Licence Act.
