(NORTH PERTH, ON) - Today at approximately 2:45 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Perth County Paramedic Services and North Perth Fire Department personnel responded to a multi-vehicle collision east of Donegal on Perth Line 72.
The preliminary investigation has determined a sports utility vehicle was travelling eastbound in whiteout conditions when it collided head on with a westbound pickup truck. Following the initial collision four other vehicles subsequently became involved in the collision including a school bus loaded with students from an area high school.
Three young children from the sports utility vehicle were sent to hospital via land ambulance. The children, ages one, three, and four remain in hospital in stable condition. Their injuries are considered non-life threatening.
The driver of the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital also with non-life threatening injuries.
None of the students on the school bus reported injuries.
Members from the West Region OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) Team attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation.
The roadway remains closed however it is expected to be open by 11:00 p.m.
