(SOUTH HURON, ON) - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a 20-year-old from Exeter with Impaired Operation and 80 Plus following a traffic stop in Exeter over the weekend.
At approximately 2:22 a.m. on February 9, 2019 Huron County OPP officers received a report of a possible impaired driver that had just left a restaurant located on Main Street North in Exeter. Within a few minutes an officer had the suspect vehicle pulled over on Thames Road West in Exeter.
Upon speaking with the male driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been drinking and was directed out of his vehicle. Upon doing so the officer noted further signs of impairment.
As a result the driver was placed under arrest and taken into custody for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. He was later transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment where he provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
Justin MCCARTER, 20 years of age from Exeter has been charged with Operation While Impaired, Impaired Operation - Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus and Young Driver Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero (BAC). He has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for February 28, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice - Exeter. His vehicle was impounded for seven days and his licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days.
