Blizzard warning in effect for:
Goderich - Bluewater - Southern Huron County
Listowel - Milverton - Northern Perth County
Stratford - Mitchell - Southern Perth County
Wingham - Blyth - Northern Huron County
Dangerous snow squalls with blizzard conditions will continue this morning.
Snow squalls combining with very strong westerly winds gusting to 90 km/h will produce dangerous whiteout conditions at times.
Road closures have been reported in the area and are likely to continue.
The hazardous conditions are expected to improve through the day as winds weaken.
It should be emphasized that the most significant aspect of this event will be from the very poor visibility and high winds and not from the snowfall accumulations. Total snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 cm are possible by Monday.
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. If you do travel and become lost, remain where you are until the blizzard has passed. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.
Blizzard warnings are issued when widespread reduced visibilities of 400 metres or less are expected for at least 4 hours.
