(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) - On Saturday March 2, 2019, at approximately 9:21 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was travelling northbound on Wellington Road 7 and monitoring traffic. The officer observed a black coupe travelling northbound in front of the police vehicle at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit.
The officer paced the vehicle for in a 60 km and 80 km/h zone and the vehicle was consistently travelling at a speed greater than 49 km/h over the posted speed limit.
David MOORE, 21-year-old of Nichol Township has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on April 17, 2019. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
