(WEST PERTH, ON) - Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on March 5, 2019, a member of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) West Perth detachment observed a motor vehicle travelling west bound on Perth Line 34 near the village of Dublin in the Municipality of West Perth. The vehicle was determined to be travelling at a rate of speed of twice the posted speed limit and was stopped by police.
Julia BARNIER, 32-years-old, of Stratford was charged with racing. Her driver's licence was seized and a driving suspension was imposed. The vehicle was towed and impounded, and she is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford on April 9, 2019 to answer the charges.
The OPP wants to remind driver's that speeding reduces the amount of available time needed to avoid a collision and increases the severity of a collision once it does occur.
If you observe concerning driving behaviour, pull over and call police at 1-888-310-1122. For emergencies, dial 9-1-1.
