(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) - On Tuesday March 19, 2019, at approximately 6:45 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was travelling southbound on the Twelfth Line south of Wellington Road 11 while conducting radar and monitoring traffic. The officer observed a black sport utility vehicle (SUV) travelling northbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit.
The SUV was locked on radar travelling at a speed in excess of 135 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
Tamara HESSELS, 37-year-old of Mapleton Township has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on May 1, 2019. Her driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
