(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) - On Monday March 25, 2019, at approximately 9:10 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a grey sedan for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Highway 6 near Wellington Street.
While speaking with the male driver, officers observed a clear baggie containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine as well as drug paraphernalia. The male was placed under arrest for possession of cocaine, however, attempted to resist while being handcuffed prior to being taken into custody.
Further investigation revealed that the driver did not have a valid driver's licence.
Filmon HAILE, 19-years-old of Kitchener, has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance - Cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Resist Arrest contrary to the Criminal Code, Unsafe Move - Lane or Shoulder and Drive Motor Vehicle - No Licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court in April 30, 2019 to answer to the charges.
