(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) - On April 13, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Concession 21 at Zion Church Road, Georgian Bluffs. At 4:50 p.m. a vehicle was stopped by officers. The driver was read a breath demand for an approved roadside screening device, after the officer's investigation revealed that the driver had been drinking alcohol.
After providing a breath sample the driver registered a warning on the device. Further, the driver was unable to produce his driver's licence and after police learned the male's name it was learned that the driver had 3 current suspensions on his driver's licence.
OPP officers charged the driver, 64-year-old male, James EDMONSTONE of Owen Sound with three counts of driving while under suspension section 53(1) Highway Traffic Act. He also received a 3 day driver's licence suspension for registering a warning on approved roadside screening device. The accused's vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on May 13, 2019.
